For doing talks, you mainly need to know what you are doing & rehearse it before each talk. That's what I do. With the new feature in PTE11 you can easily export all the Slides as smaller jpgs & then print them out with some notes if you find that helps. It would be useful if in a future version we could run PTE so that the FullScreen view could be put on a different monitor (ie the Projector) but still be able to have the Project open on the laptop to be able to see what the following Slides were. Good Luck with the Talks. Jill

Firstly welcome to PTE, once you get the hang of things you will realise how easy it is to use. Secondly, Yes PTE 11 is well worth upgrading to for the new features. Drag'n'Drop in the Objects & Animations is worth the upgrade alone without all the other new features. To try to answer your questions. To add, delete or move images to a different place do it in Slide View, not Timeline view. Use Timeline View to adjust the Durations & Transition Times of Slides & to sync with the music. When adding a new Slide the reason that the times will change on adjacent Slides is because the Default Setting are to have 'Show Full Duration' This can be very confusing for new workers as if you have changed durations or Transition times, then moving a Slide can change the Transition Time or Duration. The 'Full Duration' includes the Transition Time of the following Slide so it will change depending on what is following the current Slide. Have a look in Settings/Preferences/Project and see if the options are ticked - see screen shot below. It is up to you how you work and some people prefer to have these settings on, but a lot (myself included) prefer to have them Off. Try both to see what happens & then decide which you prefer. Enjoy PTE and you will soon be making some great shows. Jill

Hi Ken, All PTE versions are forward compatible, so if you created a show in 8 then you can open it in 11. They are only backwards compatible if you haven't used any of the new features in the later versions. But you will get a warning message saying that it was made in a later version & may not work. So if you have made a show in 11 & only used the basic features of adding images with simple transitions, then it should open in 8. Although not sure why you would want to go back as each new version is so much easier to work with. There is no Batch Publish feature and to be honest I am not sure there would be enough need for it for the developers to spend time on such a feature. As I said above, if you use the 'Run Application' to make your Menus then there is no need to republish the individual exe's All you have to do is change your top level Menus & all the shows will still work. Hope this helps. Jill

if it says Beta 7 then you are not running the latest. Download direct from the WnSoft website & save the Download with a different name eg PTE11 V1 Then delete any icons from your Desktop or where ever you run it from, install the new version and check what it says. Jill

have you got 'Full Slide Duration' set on? 5 - 1.5 = 3.5 Jill

Thanks for the reminder about the Photo Flip. It is coming in very useful for something I am currently working on. Jill

Just that I am usually making an MP4 last minute to get it into an event/Competition, so need it done soon so that I have still have time to check it all out before sending!! Also I always make an exe as well, sometimes they come out smaller, sometimes the MP4 is smaller. Depends on how much video input is in the show. Jill

I agree, but resized images may help speed up the process if you have a slower computer with not much RAM? Jill

Multiple image/video tracks is what we need and hopefully this will come in V12. Although we can do so much in O&A and have so many Objects if all those were on separate tracks it would become very unfriendly. So we still need O&A to work the way it does. Jill

If you are using the Pro version, then right click the music at the end of the last Slide & select Split Clip Drag the second bit to the right slightly so that there is a gap between the 2 parts & then hit delete Does this get rid of it for you? The other thing to check is that Syncrhonise Soundtrack & Slides is ticked in Project Options/Advanced Tab When you installed the Final PTE 11 did you tell it to copy settings from PTE10.5 when asked? Jill PS I am always up late betwen 2 & 3 am but don't 'do' mornings

You can easily shorten the video simply by the moving the following slide to the point where you want the video to end. Right Click on the Video to check if the 'Trim start of Video' Option is available, I think it will be. Jill

The latest live version is available from the main WnSoft website and was released on 29/12/2022 as far as I know is the same as RC4 If you installed V11 before then & haven't updated since then download from the main website. Jill

I suspect most people will use the ON settings as they are the defaults and unless they go looking don't realise there is anything to change. I have used both Win 7 & Win 10 to update earlier projects. Jill

I have done the same & all OK. I have recently updated a 20 minute project containing several Video clips from 10.5 to 11 with no problem. I always work with Full Duration - OFF and Adjust Keyframes with Duration Change - OFF DG I believe you work with these setting ON Could this cause a problem? Jill

Good Luck When I am moving to a new version of PTE I always save a copy with a different name. So if anything does happen I can then go back to the previous version of the project & start again. The .pte file is so small it pays to keep saving with different names at regular intervals. JIll

When you changed the Transition to Dissolve did you make sure to click on OK before closing the Slide Options Window? I only mention this as it is something I have done myself. I am so used to clicking on the X to close the O&A window, that I just automatically do it for other windows such as the Slide options forgetting to cick OK first. Still not sure why the Transitions would have changed to the Displacement Map ones. The easy way to mute a Track is to press CTRL+M and the CTRL+M again to unmute. Jill
-
there should be no problem at all in opening a 10.5 project within PTE11. You certainly shouldn't get any random Displacement Maps. Are you using any Slide Styles? I never use them, so they may be a cause of your problems but shouldn't be Jill

Looking at your image above it does not show duplicates? The first is Track7 & the second is Track9. Have you tried deleting in the Audio Tab of Project Options? Double Click on a Waveform & it should up. PTE11 will not have overwritten 10.5, both versions can exist seperately & still be used. I have never had any trouble with Audio & often have several Tracks and sound clips. Jill

If you select all the Objects that have Run Slideshow at once, then yes you can change them all to 'Run Application or Open File' in one go. I have just tried it - in PTE11 - with Text Objects, don't know if it works with Buttons as I never use them. I always use Run Application as for Competitions etc I can get files made with many different versions of PTE as well as different programs. The only difference is that you will get a very slight 'Flash' as the show starts, this is a Windows thing & can't be avoided, but isn't that noticeable. With Run Slideshow you do get a smooth transition to the Show from the Menu If you set your Menu to 'wait for Key Press to show next slide' then it will stay on the Menu Slide until you press the right arrow key on the keyboard to move to the next Slide or if there isn't one then it will exit the Menu. Your Slideshow will run & it will return to the Menu. Jill

For your Menu are you using Run Application or Run Slideshow? If you use Run Slideshow then all exe's & Menu need to be published using the exact same version of PTE. If you use Run Application then it doesn't matter which version they were made in. So if you make a change to one of them you only need to re publish that one file And if you give it the same name then you don't even have to change your Menu. Hope this helps Jill

It will depend on your Project aspect ratio I assume you are using 16:9 with a final output size of 1920 x 1080 ? If your videos are all 512x512 then I think it is just a case of doing some math!! Each Object has the Centre point at 0:0 and if it is also 1920x1080 then at 100% will fill the frame. I never actually look at the numbers & like you have done it by trial & error until it looks right. I did do something similar a couple of years ago & ended up creating an image in Photoshop which had coloured rectangles for each video to the size I wanted. I then just adjusted the images/videos in PTE to fit over the spaces. Once I had it how I wanted I then removed the background image. I am sure that those who do work by numbers rather than visually will come up with a method of calculating it. Jill

Adding your png to the Slidelist or Timeline will result in it being shown against a black background. You need to add your video or whatever image you want in the background to the Timeline. You then click on this image & go into Objects & Animation, this is where you add your png image & it will appear above your video. You then add keyframes to adjust the Opacity of the png to make it fade in & out over the Video. I assume this is what you are trying to do? Hope this helps, it really is easy once you get the idea. Jill
