  1. Hi Jeff, One possibility is to create a small image and name it the identical name of the huge file then use your zip software (PK Zip, etc) to extract the zip file copy the big file somewhere else and substitute the tiny image file in the zip archive. Then extract into a different folder and open PTE. Since the PTE file does everything by file name and extension, substituting a different small file with the same name and extension should preserve the integrity. Wouldn't hurt to try.... Best regards, Lin
  2. My daughter and grandson were out visiting and overheard me say I was thinking about building a little squirrel feeder to help the little bushy tailed critters through a tough winter. They play in my backyard tree and tease my pit pup and service dog Ruby who has learned to not only tolerate them but ignore them as they scamper along the cedar-slat fence and leap gracefully to and from the tree. I was quite surprised at Christmas to find a big box on my front porch. When I opened it, it contained a cedar-wood squirrel feeder and a huge sack of mixed squirrel feed. I got out my step-ladder and installed it on my tree, filled it up with feed and soon the little bushy-tailed, bright eyed critters had figured it out and were enjoying their time at the "snack-bar." When I have nothing else to do, I snap a few pictures of them and here are a few of those in a small slideshow... Lin & Ruby pup
  3. Nice conversion Tom! Best regards, Lin
  4. Hi Carol, All previous shows made with any version of PTE will open and can be modified and saved with PTE AV Studio 10 or 10 Pro. Once they have been saved with version 10 they can't be opened in previous versions. There really should not be any confusion if you carefully follow the examples. Save your styles and transitions in a folder on your hard drive and use this content when you import. When doing the Rubik's Cube animation, be certain that you have a 16:9 aspect ratio background image and that this image is number one in the slide list. Be certain that you have six "square" images for the sides and be certain that you select all seven images (the background image in position one and the six square images) before applying the style and it will work perfectly, every time. Best regards, LIn
  5. Hi Carol, Just a quick few words to add to what Dave G has said. A "template" in the relevant sense means a PTE file in which the user substitutes their own images or "objects" for the ones in the template. This can be done either of two ways. One way which you have used with theDom's cube template is to rename your own six square images to the names used by theDom in his PTE file (template). The other way is to use the Objects and Animations screen's "Properties" tab. First click on the object you want to substitute with your own image or object, then choose the "picture" button, click on the little down arrow to the right. Navigate to where you have your own image stored, click on your image and then on O.K. and your own image (such as one of the sides of a cube) will be substituted for the one in the "template.' Continue this until all the necessary original template images have been replaced with your own then save the PTE file under a new name. When dealing with "styles" it's a different approach entirely. My suggestion for you would be to create a folder on your preferred hard disk called "styles and transitions." When you download a new style (the file with the extension .ptestyle) put it in this folder. Likewise with new transition files (files with the extension .pteeff). Then when you want to add a style or transition you navigate to the folder "styles and transitions" and chose the appropriate one. Once it imports, you will find the style under the category according to the author of the style and you simply select the image or images necessary and then "apply" this style to get the desired result. For transitions, once they have been imported, they will appear along with default transitions when you choose a transition via the "slide options." Best regards, Lin
  6. Keep in mind that a "font size" in pixels has only a relationship to the appearance size when the factor of display resolution is considered and is equal to yours. People watching your show on a display which differs in physical dimensions and/or in pixel resolution will see fonts in a different actual size. PTE is not a text editor. It does not produce fonts with points or pixel size but instead produces fonts with a zoom size which is nearly infinitely variable. Just manually size your text and take note of the zoom number. If you wish to reproduce this on another slide or in another place on the same slide, create another text object and use the same zoom number. Best regards, Lin
  7. Carol, when you installed the PTE trial, you apparently clicked on a choice that made PTE the selected viewer for all you photos. It's not a PTE thing, it's a Windows thing. Here is the solution: Lin open the Control Panel and go to DefaultPrograms > Set Default Programs. Find Windows Photo Viewer in the list of programs, click it, and choose Set this program as default. This will set theWindows Photo Viewer as the default program for all file types it can open by default.
  8. Hi Carol, I thought you might like to see just how easy it is with PTE AV Studio 10 Pro to create cubes, etc., using free styles which others have already made for you. Below is a little demo video I just made and posted to YouTube which explains this... Best regards, Lin
  9. Hi Brian, Nice job you two did here! I see you've already found some of the neat features and with time you'll discover many more. Welcome to the PTE AV Studio 10 forum and if you haven't already done so, you might want to join our group on Facebook here also: https://www.facebook.com/groups/picturestoexefans/?ref=bookmarks Best regards, Lin
  10. Hi Mike, It only applies to executable code. If you make video with a 64 bit system it will be recognized on a 32 bit system. Actually, there have been 64 bit Windows operating systems since Win XP. You don't need Win 10, you need a 64 bit OS and that could be Win 7 or 8 or 8.1 or 10. Some of the new features in PTE AV Studio 10 are not designed to work with XP or Vista. All new MacIntosh operating systems are 64 bit so to be compatible with both Windows and MacIntosh it was necessary to go to 64 bit which offers myriad advantages. Best regards, Lin
  11. Hi Barry, I use a 4K Samsung. I have no experience with the BenQ but considered the Eizo and then quickly dismissed that idea as being way too expensive for the minimal increase in quality. Yes, you get a better view from angles and you have the ability to use color space beyond sRGB but how important really is that? If I were still doing lots of professional printing where I absolutely HAD to know that what I sent out for reproduction would be rendered precisely as seen on my display, it "might" be worth while, but for the purposes of beautiful slideshows and 95% accuracy, my 28" 4K Samsung which cost me about $300 with taxes here in the USA has been quite sufficient. It renders beautiful images, has great refresh rate making it easy on my eyes to spend hours viewing and other than the fact that I still use Win 8.1 and Photoshop CS6 Extended which makes for tiny menus, I've been perfectly happy. Win 10 or one of the subscription versions of Photoshop is a remedy for the problem I have but I'm not willing to go to subscription software and have no desire for Win 10 so put up with the Adobe issue. No other software at all is a problem. Best regards, Lin
  12. Hi Carol, Sadly, I don't know anyone who has any of the old templates that theDom made. Back in the early days we made the cubes one at a time and it took a little while to construct one, but once you have one made, you could just change the pictures on each side in Objects and Animations on the Properties tab. Here is a link to my tutorial on how to create the cube. Go to number !8 and download the AVI video tutorial and follow it and you can create your own template. Having said this, perhaps now would be a good time to consider upgrading to the new PTE AV Studio 10 Pro and you will have a wealth of new things which you can easily do with styles, etc. Just a thought. Here's the link to the tutorials - just choose #18 - scroll down past the red identifiers to the actual links.. Best regards, Lin
  13. Hi Carol, Which version of PTE are you using? You should be able to create a rotating cube by simply selecting any six images from the slide list then click on Slide Styles and then "experimental" then "cube." Best regards, Lin
  14. Hi Gerard, You can have multiple copies of PTE running simultaneously, but that can get confusing if you're not careful. Just minimize PTE and click on your PTE icon to open another simultaneous instance of PTE. Why would you want to leave PTE running and close one project and open another? Why just not save and close the project you're working on and exit PTE then open it again and load your new project? Best regards, Lin
  15. Wow Paul, You've been busy !!! Nice !!! Best regards, Lin
  16. Beautiful Aleina, Well done and perfectly rendered !!! Best regards, Lin
  17. Hi Folks, Back about four years ago in 2016 we played around with animated fans. Dave G created a style and I created a template for users who wanted to create animated fans with their own images on them. I thought perhaps that some of our newer users may not have seen this and might be interested in doing it. If so, let me know and I'll search back and find Dave's style and post a link also to my template. Essentially, one needs Photoshop and a neat Photoshop fan action by Panos of Panos FX. The Panos FX action created any of three different fans and with a little more automated Photoshop work it's easy to create the PNG fan blades to allow the animation. Either use Dave's style or my template and you can create your own animated fan. Below is a little example.. So if you're interested, reply and let me know and I'll post instructions for where to find my template and how to use it and find the old links to Dave's example and style. Best regards, Lin
  18. I think you have the option when first opening the program of choosing either PTE AV Studio 10 or PTE AV Studio 10 Pro... Just delete the original trial and download and install another? Best regards, Lin
  19. It's pretty straight-forward. Apply the style to a slide then go to Objects and Animations and make any desired changes in animation, keyframes, position of objects, etc. Go to slide options and make any desired changes in slide time, transitions, etc. When everything is working the way you want, simply go to slide styles, tools and save as a new style with a different name, etc. Best regards, Lin
  20. Thanks Aleina, I had fun putting it together. Best regards, Lin
  21. Done using RGBA Alpha Channel Video, Chroma Key Extracction Video, And Video Masking With Video Matt etc,. Used ParticleIllusion To Create RGBA Alpha Channel For Bubbles In Champagne Glass. Used David Fitzpatrick's CaptionsAlive Pro To Create Alpha Channel Text And Video Matt. Done With PTE 9 But Would Have Been Easier With PTE AV Studio Because I Wouldn't Have Needed To Change Uncompressed AVI To WMV Format. Just A Fun Experiment Folks - Plenty To Like About PTE. Best regards, Lin
  22. Hi Rosemary, Go ahead and join YouTube so you can post shows when you have questions. I'm linking the file that Richard put on dropbox below. Just download and install this file. Open PTE and put in an image into the slides. Click on "Slide Options" then at the bottom left "Manage Transitions." Choose "Import Transitions" and navigate to your downloaded "Curved Star.pteeff" and choose it. You should then find it among the available transitions. Best regards, Lin Curved Star.pteeff
  23. Hi Rosemary, Do you have any videos on YouTube or Vimeo? If so, just copy the code and paste it in an answer here and it will embed the video.. Best regards, Lin
  24. Hi Rosemary, If you could provide a short sample - just a single slide or two video with this ending transition, I'm sure we can create a simple duplicate in terms of a slide style to end with. Normally, there is no transition at the end of a show - just a blank slide, but it would be easy to create a style which you could apply to the last slide or to a blank slide but we would need to see a sample. Best regards, Lin
  25. Works perfectly !!! Thanks Igor and development team !!!! Best regards, Lin
